OpenStack

Our flexible data storage service offers developers a simple web service to tightly integrate their applications.  We're utilizing the "Swift" portion of the open source cloud-computing project "OpenStack," which is free open source software released under the terms of the Apache license.  Swift is a highly available, distributed, and eventually consistent data store.

Swift utilizes the OpenStack RESTful API, which is based on the existing Rackspace Cloud API (published under Creative Commons in 2009). The project is built in a way that allows multiple APIs to be supported, which will also allow us to add support for the Amazon model. 

 

A Proven Infrastructure

NHPC utilizes advanced clustering techniques built on Microsoft® Certified Dell Blade Servers and Microsoft® Certified Compellent SAN Storage.  Our cloud infrastructure is housed in a state-of-the-art data center located in Phoenix, Arizona, which features redundant power supplies, including battery backups and multiple onsite diesel generators, and multiple Tier-1 connectivity providers.
